On Friday, April 17th, the White Ball Productions team traveled to beautiful State College, PA for a special screening of their film, Grandpa and Shorty. The PA Department of the American Legion Auxiliary hosted the screening event at their spring conference, held at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. A room full of military spouses, family, and veterans gave the film an amazingly engaged and supportive reaction with laughter, tears, hugs, and applause. It was truly an inspiring reception from precisely the type of audience for whom this film was made.

After the screening, John and the White Ball team conducted a brief Q&A session and visited with the audience, sharing in congratulations, mutual gratitude, and moving testimony from these military families. White Ball Productions is thrilled at the prospect of future partnership with this group, in a joint effort to share this story through more American Legion Auxiliary screenings across the country.

Founded in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary supports veteran families and is comprised of the spouses, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of the American Legion. Nearly 8,000 local Auxiliary units across America have contributed over 3 million volunteer hours and raised millions of dollars for military youth, education, and communities. Their motto reflects the very theme of Grandpa and Shorty: “Service, Not Self.”

Please check out these photos of the event below. Many thanks to Lynne Akers, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Penn Stater hotel for a wonderful reception!
