The Schola Cantorum of St. John XXIII Parish is excited to announce that post-production has begun for their second album, which will be a collection of Gregorian Chant and sacred polyphony from the Lent and Easter seasons.
The album, which is yet unnamed, was recorded by Treelady Studios, at St. Ambrose Church on Spring Hill, just north of downtown Pittsburgh. The choir exerted a tremendous amount of effort, singing for 3 evening recording sessions, each 3 hours long! It was an exciting but demanding experience, to which everyone brought their very best with a cheerful and collaborative attitude. With only a few more weeks in the 2015-2016 season, everyone is looking forward to some much deserved time off!
As for the recording, now that the choir’s part is done, Treelady will take the helm for mixing and mastering, creating a polished final product that is professionally presented and packaged. In the meantime, artwork for the CD will be created, along with a suitable title for the album–any suggestions??
Very special thanks go to Dave, Josh, and Garrett from Treelady Studios; to Holy Wisdom Parish for the use of St. Ambrose Church; to Fr. James Dolan our pastor; to our generous benefactors who financially support these efforts; and of course to the members of the schola. It’s a blessing and honor to work with each and every one of you! Please stay tuned for the announcement of the finished CD, along with audio excerpts to hear what we’ve been up to!
